One of the most gut-wrenching cliffhangers from the Grey's Anatomy Season 7 finale was Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) maybe-baby drama. When we last left our fave ginger-Asian couple, Owen had given Cristina the boot for refusing to consider keeping their accidental lovechild. And if you think that when the Season 8 premiere picks up five days later, the couple will have kissed and made up, you, friends, are sorely mistaken.
Kevin tells E! Online that the baby fight will play out much longer than just the 2-hour season premiere. In fact, he says, the sinkhole that rips open the streets of Seattle in the episode is the perfect metaphor for Cristina and Owen's relationship circling the drain.
"It's not going to be easy for them. It's more than a bump [in the road]...it's kind of a sinkhole, actually," he told the website. "They're really hitting it hard. He wants kids, she absolutely does not. It's not going to be pretty."
Yeaaah, we were afraid of that. And while we find out by the end of the premiere whether or not Cristina chooses to keep the baby, Kevin teases that the fallout is lasting.
"In the season premiere there will be a resolution to all of that in a quite unexpected way," he says. "It resolves, and then you think it's put to bed, but it isn't."
Well that's informative, Kevin, thanks. Lucky for us, we won't have to wait too much longer for the premiere. Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC on Thursday, September 22nd.
